The 2014 ALK Transportation Technology Summit – 10th Anniversary!

The 2014 ALK Transportation Technology Summit was truly special this year, as it marked our 10th anniversary of the event.

Although our event remained in Princeton, NJ this year, we switched up both our Golf Outing venue, moving to Springdale Golf Club, as well as our Dinner Reception venue, relocating back to the Nassau Inn, the location of our very first Summit in 2005!  Both venues were a huge success.

In addition to the events, we hope you enjoyed all of the networking opportunities, and general sessions. It was an honor to have former Secretary of transportation Ray Lahood onboard to share his current views.  Another agenda highlight was the CIO panel discussion focused on critical industry issues and best practices.   Each year we try to improve our content so that attendees leave with actionable information to help streamline their business’ operational efficiencies.

5 weeks away from the 10th Annual Tech Summit

Can you believe we are 5 weeks away from the 10th Annual Tech Summit?

We’re pulling out all of the stops for our milestone event. We’re golfing at a new course, located directly on the Princeton University campus, and going back to where it all began for our Gala on Tuesday evening at the Nassau Inn on Palmer Square.

Did we mention we’ve got a huge lineup of industry expert speakers?

Richie Henderson, Senior Vice President, Administration & Technology, J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is confirmed as our 2014 Keynote Speaker. Part of the organization’s Executive Management Team, Richie plays an integral leadership role in the areas of IT, engineered solutions, and implementation. His thoughts on the industry’s best practices will be centered on the synergy of business strategy and technology.

We’re also excited that former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, will be joining us on Wednesday morning to share his professional experiences and viewpoints on the current trends and issues are shaping the transportation industry.

We’re packed full with 2 days of thought leadership sessions, networking, and events. To view our complete agenda-at-a-glance with abstract and speaker information, click here.

The goal of our event is based around our conference theme, “Defining Best Practices for Productivity & Profitability.” We want our audience of transportation, logistics and manufacturing companies to come away with actionable information on how to deploy operational efficiencies that lead to success in a variety of organizational functions.

Mark Hornung talks Zeroing in on Tolls in Transport Topics

Mark Hornung, Senior Vice President of Strategic Projects at ALK Technologies wrote an opinion piece for Transport Topics titled Zeroing in on Tolls:

“In general, toll costs from Chicago to destinations on the East coast will account for between 8 and 19 percent of the total cost to operate commercial vehicles on these routes. The margin gets worse if going up and down the northeast corridor. The tolls here account for as much as 23 percent of total cost.”
