ALK Icon Derek Leathers Returns to Deliver Keynote Address at 2013 ALK Transportation Technology Summit

ALK Technologies is excited to have Derek Leathers, President and Chief Operating Officer at Werner Enterprises, back by popular demand to deliver the keynote address for the 2013 ALK Transportation Technology Summit.  Derek will be sharing his expert outlook on the industry, one year later, which is guaranteed to be not only thought-provoking, but informative. We look forward to hearing his perspective on the present and future of freight transportation and the continuing impact of technology.

Derek J. Leathers is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Werner Enterprises. Derek has worked in the transportation and logistics industry for over 20 years. Throughout his tenure at Werner, he has held integral roles in many faces of the organization, including the establishment of Werner’s Mexico operations, oversight for all the asset operating groups and leading the launch of Werner Global Logistics, which encompasses transportation management and freight movement within Intermodal, Ocean, Air and Brokerage. Prior to joining Werner in 1999, Mr. Leathers was one of the first foreign members of Mexico’s trucking association (CANACAR) and was based out of Mexico City for several years. Derek holds an Economics degree from Princeton University.

ALK Technologies will be hosting the 9th annual Transportation Technology Summit on May 14-16 in Princeton, NJ.

Our thought leaders symposium finds a new home this year at the Hyatt Regency Princeton. We’re excited to hold our unique industry event at this new venue.

This year’s theme, “Synchronize Strategies. Deliver Results.”, will be touched on throughout the three day event in expert seminars, case-studies, panels and facilitated roundtables. ALK Icon ALK Technology Summit Wrap-Up

We’ve just wrapped up our 8th annual ALK Transportation Technology Summit  and I’m pleased to announce we had record breaking attendance with nearly 250 transportation and technology professionals– of which 62% were first time attendees.  We also had 27 sponsors, up from 19 in 2011.  Thanks to all of our speakers, sponsors and attendees for joining us in our hometown of Princeton for another successful event.  It was great to see so many familiar faces as well as have the opportunity to meet new industry experts.

This year’s Summit provided a firsthand look into the thoughts and experiences of some of the most influential leaders in the trucking and logistics industry.  The theme of the Summit, Driving Innovation: Connecting Compliance and Efficiency, was touched on in different ways by each of our presenters.
